Snake River Valley American Viticultural Area Designation Boosts Culinary Tourism in Idaho
Idaho’s Snake River Valley was designated in March of ’07 as an American Viticultural Area (AVA) by the US Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). This is an important distinction because Idaho’s Snake River Valley is now officially recognized as a unique grape growing region capable of producing excellent wines. The AVA designation also elevates the status of Idaho wines among consumers and will help Idaho agriculture to differentiate Idaho’s superior wine and food products.
The Idaho Grape Growers and Wine Producers Commission and the Idaho Department of Commerce Division of Tourism turned to Drake Cooper to develop a PR plan to launch the news of Idaho’s first AVA designation and tell the story nationwide. Following is a list of the immediate news coverage results.
